Sailing/Beach Theme Board

Last Monday I went to a trade fair to source new items and inspiration, one theme seemed very strong in particular, and that was a nautical theme. If you and your partner are looking to have a nautical themed wedding perhaps this mood board will give you some ideas.
Your ceremony and reception venue can be decorated relatively cheaply with all sorts of sailing and beach themed items, from shell and driftwood hearts, shell and leaf wreaths, flag bunting and buoys, perhaps with a few photographs dotted around of the happy couple in these pale blue distressed wooden frames.

Why not use beach hut coat hooks to hang table cards from or display them in these long photo frames - then afterwards use them in your home!

Instead of flowers as centrepieces maybe have different tall wooden lighthouses, life buoy tealight holders and instead of table diamonds or confetti scatter a mixture of shells over the tables.

For favours how about beach hut money boxes, glass starfish tealight holders, buckets filled with seashell chocolates, shell topped tins or nautical chests filled with confectionery.

Rich Reds and Golds

To be able to do a job I love is a privilege and a pleasure, and it's taken me a while to really relax and enjoy myself - sounds strange? Perhaps, but after years of working for various companies in largely financial and administration roles, the fact that doing things like putting together inspiration boards is actually now part of my 'job' takes a bit of getting used to! I hope that somewhere along the line they help someone to have the wedding of their dreams. Today I have indulged my love of strong, rich colours.

Peacock Inspired Mood Board

Peacocks are spectacular show-offs and to see one with its tail feathers fully fanned out and the iridescent blues and greens glinting in the sunlight is breathtaking. I'm a lover of strong colours and couldn't resist putting together this mood board after seeing the simply gorgeous Peacock wedding dress on Archibald Photography's blog back in March.

Venetian Masquerade Ball

I have always had a fascination for Venice, with it's incredible canals and ancient buildings rising out of the water and of course the romance of the gondoliers (although there's nothing particularly romantic about the cost of these apparently for the unwary tourist!). It is a city high on my 'must visit' list and I would particularly like to go during the Carnival and attend a masquerade ball. This mood board I hope captures the opulence and fun of such an event.

1920s Inspiration

Mrs LilGuys has been putting together another Inspiration/Mood Board.  This time she has been inspired by the glamour of the 1920s, a time when women were breaking free of the corset, a time of glamour, Hollywood and of course, the Charleston!

Charleston Farmhouse, the meeting place for a group of writers, painters and intellectuals known as the Bloomsbury Group, is around ten miles from us in Sussex and well worth a visit when open http://www.charleston.org.uk

Chocolate

Mood Boards can give you inspiration for your wedding or event, or they can help you keep on track with your own ideas.  I will be hijacking Mr LilGuy’s blog on occasion to post my mood boards on for you to browse and hopefully gain inspiration from.  Or why not create one of your own by clipping pictures from magazines and using A3 card if you have specific ideas?  When you’re planning a wedding it is so easy to get distracted by everyone else’s ideas so creating your own board will give you something to glance at to remind yourself of what it is that you as a couple want!

With the recent chilly weather I have been thinking a lot about hot chocolate (probably more so as my diet doesn’t allow for it!), warm and rich.  For my mood board I have used various contrasts with coffee, cream, pink and cinnamon, with of course a bit of sparkle!
