The Wall from Tobi Hannah

THE WALL COLLECTION

The Wall collection celebrates what the Tobi Hannah brand is all about - thinking differently and individuality. The name and campaign are inspired by Pink Floyd's album of the same title and in particular by the song - Another Brick In The Wall.

Tulle is definitely a recurring theme throughout the collection, used in ways to create a delicate sheer effect on dresses. The introduction of silk crepe adds luxury and there is also a fair amount of lace but again, very delicate to give an authentic vintage feel to the dresses.

The 2014 collection message is clear - don't just be another brick in the wall and another typical bride. Embrace your personal style.

It has the most exquisite art deco style embellishment leading up the foot, using a variety of swarovski crystal and beads hand worked to create an art-deco geometric print.

'Audrey' is the result of a collaboration with designer Debbie Carlisle. Anybody with magpie tendencies will pine over these beauties."Freya Quotes " The roaring 20s was such a beautiful time. It was the first time women could move freely in their clothing - the perfect blend between style and function. Everyone still recognises the style   because it is everlasting. I love pulling inspirational details from this explosive time and incorporating them into my designs, allowing a twist of contemporary modern design with the secrets of times gone by."

Pocketfold Invitations

How often have we all received invitations, whether for a wedding or another occasion, with information inserts that fall out as soon as you open the card, and once retrieved and read somehow manage to disappear never to be seen again - crucially the directions sheet that can't be found on the day of the occasion?! Here at Lilguy Stationery we have an extensive range of pocketfold invitations that solve that problem. We produce two sizes currently, one slightly smaller than A6 and a 15cm square, both come with matching envelopes either to the card itself or the insert card/paper.

If the colour you're looking for is not shown don't worry, we have access to card and paper direct from the manufacturer, and if none of their colours quite match we can have your colour made up if you give us the Pantone number.

FitzGerald Photographic

Our blog post today comes from Clare FitzGerald and she shares her beautiful photography of Jenny & Milo's wedding earlier this year......

The wedding was held at the Swallows Oast Barn in Ticehurst, East Sussex on Saturday 25th February 2012 and had a vintage-esque theme set within the backdrop of a beautiful rustic barn.

The Bride, Jenny, Head of Events for a unique London venue, oversaw the planning & detail of the day, as you would expect from someone who organises events for a living and always with a smile on her face! Jenny was very hands on with the theming, props and decor of the venue, sourcing or making herself. The icing on the cake, quiet literally, was the impressive Wedding Cake & Cheese Cake, that she made. In her spare time, Jenny is in the early days of setting up her own cake making business, so was obviously keen to make her own!

With grey skies in the morning, the sun came out in the afternoon, to make it a beautiful day! I couldn't have asked for a better wedding to start the year off or a more lovely & relaxed couple to photograph!

Many thanks to Clare for sharing these wonderful photos and to Jenny & Milo for allowing us a peak into their special day! You can contact Clare through her website as well as following her on Facebook and Twitter.

Wedcars

How you get to the church and/or reception venue is an important part of the planning process for your wedding. Unless you know someone who has the perfect car for you to use then it can be a daunting process to find your ideal transport. This week Nigel from Wedcars tells us how his business grew and gives some valuable tips when choosing your transport.
The Wedding Car Hire Directory

Wedcars was started in 2003 with two classic cars. The initial remit of the business was the enjoyment of sharing a passion for classic cards and to allow the cards to 'earn their keep'.

The  number of bookings grew steadily, through the website, word of mouth, and campaigns with wedding outfitters.

Over the years we have received a great many enquiries for vehicles that we did not own, and some that we could not source. It became apparent that a great many couples were searching for some very specific wedding transport and having difficulty finding it.

In 2010 we started development work on a new website that would bring a new and fresh approach to the world of wedding transport hire.
Why is it different? Well, drawing on the many enquiries we receive it became obvious that couples don't want to be confronted by a list of supplier websites that make them do all the work in terms of searching each one in case the vehicle they want is listed. We therefore decided to put the vehicle at the centre of the process and allow customers to search for a wedding car based on any combination of country, make and colour.
For example, you want to find services in Derbyshire, you may be unsure of the vehicle you want, but you have decided it must be blue. Simply select Derbyshire from the map or dropdown, select blue and you will be presented with blue vehicles available in Derbyshire, simple and effective. From there you can then click on the thumbnail image to view further images of this vehicle and see any other offerings from this supplier.
Now the happy couple can simply fill in the form and send a message directly to that supplier who will then contact them to discuss their reuirements.

We hope that your readers will agree "That's an easy way to find your ideal wedding transport".

Here are a few tips to help you get the best out of your wedding transport:-

  • Always ask to see wedding cars before you book. Make sure you are happy with condition of the vehicles.
  • Ensure that the vehicle will meet your needs in term of access and comfort, particularly if the style of your dress is full.
  • Remember to liaise with your provider if you require any photo stops en-route.
  • Think about the timings, providers will usually offer advice on journey times, remember wedding cars generally travel more slowly.
  • The very important issue of hair/head dress! If you are considering an open top vehicle think about any issues with the weather and the distance to travel.
  • Does the provider have public liability insurance?
  • Ensure that your wedding car provider has agreed to any specific requests, such as a particular colour theme.
  • Clearly understand what decorations are included
  • How much is the deposit and when is the balance due?
  • Be sure that you understand how long you have the use of the wedding cars, and what for.
  • What happens if the car has a breakdown?
  • What happens if you cancel?

We hope you have enjoyed this insight into the world of the wedding car.

Visit the Wedcars Website and try it out for yourselves!

Denise Hagon, Calligrapher

How many of us have beautiful handwriting these days? Not me, that's for sure! I rely solely on fonts on my computer (and I do have rather a lot of them!) for my work, however there is nothing quite as luxurious and sumptuous as real handcrafted calligraphy. I have in the past attempted to master the art but with disastrous results!
As well as guest name writing, calligrapher Denise Hagon  produces some extremely creative commissions. Denise  learnt calligraphy at the age of 16 at Technical College and loved it so much she set up a calligraphy studio in 1985.
“I've been providing a professional bespoke calligraphy service now for 27 years! I’m a true scribe and artist, passionate about pens, nibs, beautiful scripts and gorgeous papers! I've an exciting range of historical and modern scripts and love to combine beautifully printed stationery with handwritten names. Every invitation and envelope receives the finishing touch it deserves - a guest name written with beauty and perfection."

With a degree in Art History and Design, she takes a special interest in vintage styles and period handwriting.

"I've worked on so many period films and TV productions over the years, including Poirot, Sleepy Hollow, Sharpe, Mansfield Park and Bleak House. Most recently the latest film of Anna Karenina!"

To see the full range of Denise's exciting calligraphy visit Denise's website, and if you'd like to enquire about a calligraphy project you can contact her by email.
