Susan Fowler Bouquet Preservation

When Mr LG & I married in April 2008 we had a wonderful display of spring flowers in shades of blue and lilac in tubs which we had planted specially for the occasion, as well as gorgeous tall table vase centrepieces which looked all the more stunning for the lilac coloured water in them. My bouquet was especially pretty with roses, scillia and other flowers following the blue/lilac theme. The day after the wedding I took the bouquet apart so that I could dry the more robust flowers but unfortunately the more delicate blooms were unsaveable. I wish I'd known about the service that Susan Fowler offers before our wedding as my dried roses are now rather sad looking!

I specialise in preserving any fresh flower, brides bouquet, buttonholes, corsages etc infact any flower from any memorable occasion. They are dismantled carefully then prepared for pressing, preserving and drying.  They take from 4-6 weeks to dry then after consultation with the client, are reassembled and laid on fabric backing of silk, satin, taffeta etc before being framed.  Variety of designs, new unique contemporary collage style available including the new “seaside theme” design.

NEW FREE SERVICE when you book preservation of your special flowers-PHOTO DIARY (on CD or by email) to show the flowers being dismantled ready for preserving so you can see what has happened to the flowers. Brides in particular love to see what was being done with their flowers whilst on honeymoon!

PRICES -from an affordable £90 upwards and smaller items such as paperweights (£25) are available.

TIMESCALE -I can preserve flowers up to approx 2 weeks old depending on condition. Even if a flower in a bouquet is going brown, it doesn't mean the rest of the flowers can't be saved.

DELIVERY/APPOINTMENTS- Simple no fuss advice on care and packing of the flowers before you send or deliver them to me. Local pick up can be arranged or you can if you wish deliver in person. If you post, it's easy...just send them by Royal Mail Special Delivery and I receive them the next day. Appointments available at lovely venues in Truro, St Austell and surrounding areas! View your preserved flowers or commission a special project in relaxed comfortable surroundings!

LilGuy Facebook Shop

I'm not one to pay others to do something that I can quite easily do myself, so when I received a sales call yesterday from a company claiming to be in receipt of partial Government Initiative Funding to help businesses like mine to set up e-commerce shops on Facebook, with a small contribution from myself of just £99 I decided to investigate a little. I could find no mention of such an initiative on the search engine, however I did find a link to a Facebook App where it's possible to set up your own Facebook Shop for free if you have a business page there. When I asked the sales company by email for the details of this Government Funding I was called back to be given the information - now call me cynical but if the company isn't prepared to put the information in an email then I smell a bit of a rat! My apologies to said company if I've got this wrong and they are indeed in receipt of this funding, but I've spent today setting up my very own Facebook Shop - not too fiddly and I'm very glad I hung onto the £99!

It's not fully stocked yet, but have a browse, I'll be adding more items when my broadband finally sorts its act out and gives me more speed! Whilst you're over there why not 'Like' our page too if you don't already!

Mayflower Events

Looking to have a tea party theme for a special occasion? Our guest post today comes from Robyn Ayala-Lea who is able to help out with her company, Mayflower Events.

Mayflower Events specialises in organising, styling and catering for tea parties and supplying beautiful vintage crockery, cakes and catering for weddings, engagement parties, hen parties and stag parties.

The aim of Mayflower Events is to make the organisation of a wedding or party effortless by being a single point of contact from vintage crockery hire, glasses, table linen and cutlery hire to the cake and catering.

Mayflower Events also offers an event organising and styling service so the bride and groom can enjoy their wedding or party whilst someone else seamlessly brings all the elements of the day together. Depending on what the bride and groom’s requirements are, we can assist for the whole day or just for certain individual parts.

The team at Mayflower Events really enjoy putting together a beautiful selection of vintage crockery with the most delicious cakes and fabulous tea party food and watching our brides and grooms have a truly amazing, special day. Our resident baker has a real talent for making not only beautiful, but also very tasty cakes – we believe that a cake must taste as good as it looks!

We have collected a wide range of beautiful crockery over the years, and some stunning accessories. We love being given the challenge of turning a generic venue into something unique for the bride and groom that guests will talk about for years to come. It’s important to us that we keep producing unique and fun ideas – for example we currently planning a Willy Wonka Tea Party and Mad Hatters Tea Party and are in the process of launching our Gentlemen’s Tea Party service.

Typically we will sit with a bride and groom and go through what they are looking for, put on our creativity hats and come up with a selection of ideas to meet their budget. The consultation and planning process will vary from client to client. Some clients may just wish to hire our beautiful vintage crockery and will simply book us for their event date having viewed the website and asked us some questions over the telephone or by email. Other clients organising, for example, a tea party for a hen party or wedding may have a telephone consultation, followed by a face-to-face meeting where ideas are discussed and agreed. Mayflower Events can be as involved as much as each bride and groom require.

We pride ourselves on paying attention to every small detail and providing a reliable, professional yet personal service to make the bride and groom’s celebration as special as possible.

Please take the opportunity to browse the services Mayflower Events offers on our website. If you have any questions no matter how big or small then please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your individual needs.
